Seat Sponsorship
North Shore Brass does not have a major sponsor and therefore relies on support from members and its community. The Seat Sponsor programme is an ideal way for our community to assist us with sustaining a top-level brass band for another 100 years.
• For as little as $500 you can tailor your support to a seat or an instrument in the band.
• We are a registered charity (Charity No. CC28334) so this is a tax-deductible donation.
• We ask for a minimum two-year commitment.
In recognition of your support, we offer:
• Four complimentary tickets to all concerts – bring friends who may wish to become Seat Sponsors.
• Acknowledgement in all printed programmes and publications, and your website link.
• Listing on our website with link to your website.
• Meet and greets with our Director of Music and players post-concert.

Harmen Vanhoorne

The band has hosted Harmen Vanhoorne from Belgium each July since 2015 to perform with the band at competitions, concerts and teach our senior and student musicians.
He has fallen in love with New Zealand and moved to our country from Belgium in early 2020 under a talent Visa arrangement with Immigration NZ.
He is a world class musician, conductor, trainer, teacher, and player. He is regarded as a virtuoso cornet player and sat on the principal cornet of our A grade band (the leader of the band) from 2015 till 2019. He took over the baton in 2020 and is now the Director of Music for North Shore Brass taking the band to new heights musically winning several national trophies as well as the champion band of Auckland each year since. In 2020 he was also appointed as principal cornet of the National Band of New Zealand. Harmen works at high schools and intermediate schools in Auckland teaching individuals, bands, orchestras, and small groups as well as a private tuition business.

The Band

North Shore Brass is one of New Zealand’s most active community music organisations, consisting of four bands. We support and represent the North Shore and Auckland in civic events and community occasions.
Our concert series includes “Christmas @ Holy Trinity”, “Morning Melodies,” “Stars of Brass,” and our popular “Music for Our Mothers” which you are enjoying this evening.
Our top band, North Shore Brass, is ranked in the top three in New Zealand and is the reigning Auckland champion.
The wider organisation includes North Shore Brass Academy Band, North Shore Youth Brass, and the North Shore Brass Community Band, with over 120 musicians involved.

Academy Band

Formed in 2013 this group was soon meeting an unmet need in our community for quality teaching and banding in general as it attracted returning adults as well a raft of students from local schools. It now has three levels of bands:
- North Shore Brass Academy Band – An invitation-only band of mainly students – it was most recently promoted to the C grade.
- North Shore Brass Community Band – an all-comers band that attracts adults and students from our youth band.
- North Shore Youth Brass – the 2019 champion youth brass band of New Zealand has students from local schools that wish to play in a dedicated brass band.

North Shore Brass Would Like to Thank our Sponsors
