Academy Band

Our Academy began in 2013 with a handful of players. Today it includes over 40 students and adults that undertake community concerts, competitions, and arranges seminars and other opportunities for members. The North Shore Brass Academy Band has entered several ABA (Auckland Bands Association) contests as well as a regular appearances at the Matamata Brass Festival, the Murrays Bay Wharf Birdman competition and often joins the senior band at concerts including Christmas Cabaret and Songs For Your Mother.
In 2018 we formed the Takapuna Youth Brass as the Academy has expanded and there are further opportunities for a pure youth band.

Understudies

Our very young and very new players come together for their very own rehearsals.
We learn lots about music theory, and work on pieces that
we play at our end of term concerts and public performances.

Getting started

Ever wanted to play in a band?  Join our “Getting Started” programme where
players receive one-on-one tuition with one of our experienced tutors.
It’s a friendly introduction to how a brass band works as a team.
